Call for joint project proposals 2022/2023

GENERAL INFORMATIONS

FCT and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) hereby launch a call for joint project proposals from Portuguese and German research teams, for the 2022-2023 period, between 16th June and 10th September, for exchanging researchers within the framework of joint research projects.

The funding is intended, strictly, for the mobility of researchers participating in the projects: travel costs and stay of Portuguese researchers in Germany (project budget: 2000€/year). The non-inclusion of young researchers in the Portuguese team is eliminatory see definitions in the FAQ's. It is mandatory to present the work plan of the young researchers. Priority will be given to new projects / new teams and to teams that have not had funding in the last competitions.

The two implementing bodies of this Agreement will carry out the respective evaluation and selection of the projects to be financed. Applications that are not submitted simultaneously to the executing agencies of the two countries will not be considered.

Funding for the 2nd year of the project is dependent on the submission and approval of a technical / financial report (Model here), to be sent to the technician accompanying the program, by the end of November 2022.

APPLICATIONS

Applications must be prepared jointly by the researchers in charge of the two countries and submitted to the implementing bodies of the Agreement. Thus, the Portuguese team must send their application to FCT and the foreign team to the body of their country.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

A. Scientific merit and quality of the proposal (35%);

  • Importance for the advancement of knowledge;
  • Proposal of original and creative concepts;

  • Expected scientific or technological results.

B. Quality of the proposal's research teams (25%);

  • Adequacy of the teams' skills to the objective of the research;

C. Relevance of the participation of young researchers from the Portuguese side (25%);

Selection of Proposals

Proposals considered eligible will be evaluated by both Parties and subsequently analyzed in a joint meeting in the Joint Selection Committee, composed of elements from FCT and DAAD representatives, and those that are the subject of an agreement in the conciliation of interests between the two institutions. In addition to the scientific evaluation, other criteria may be taken into account in the selection of proposals, such as the distribution by areas of knowledge and / or by geographic areas, among others.
