Transnational Cooperation

Implement a European-wide coordination of research and innovation programmes on raw materials to strengthen the industry competitiveness and the shift to a circular economy

ERA-MIN 2 is the ERA-NET Cofund on Raw Materials, supported by European Commission’s Horizon 2020, started on December 1st 2016 for a period of for five years, and is coordinated by FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology (Portugal).

ERA-MIN 2 is a pan-European network of research and innovation funding programmes consisting of 21 public organisations from 11 EU Member States countries (Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden), two EU Member states regions (Belgium-Flanders and Spain-Castille y Léon), one Associated Country (Turkey) and four non-EU countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and South Africa).

Built on the experience of the EU project ERA-MIN (2011-2015), ERA-MIN 2 aims to enhance and strengthen the coordination of research and innovation programmes in the field of non-energy, non-agricultural raw materials (construction, industrial and metallic minerals) in line with the integrated strategy EU Raw Materials Initiative and the Strategic Implementation Plan of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials.

Through the implementation of three joint calls for transnational collaborative R&I projects, ERA-MIN 2 will support demand driven research on Primary and Secondary Resources, and Substitution of Critical Raw Materials under a circular economy approach, as well as cross-cutting issues, like the mitigation of environmental impacts and raising public awareness. The main goal of this activity is to give the opportunity to the research and innovation community to apply to world-wide coordinated funding, gaining access to leading knowledge and new markets, while reducing fragmentation of research and innovation funding across Europe and globally.

Announcement ERA-MIN Joint Call 2019

The scope of the Call is needs-driven research on non-energy, non-agricultural raw materials (metallic, construction and industrial minerals) addressing one or several areas of the life cycle, covering both primary and secondary resources. The call documents contain detailed information on thematic priorities, application process, funding commitments and contact persons. Please consult the documents and selected links available in the box on the right.

Belgium-Brussels, Belgium-Flanders, Belgium-Wallonia, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Quebéc – Canada, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden and Turkey.

Applicants from countries not participating in the call can be part of a consortium.

1- Please consult the Call Documents on the box on the right. All documents needed to write and compose the proposal are available on the ERA-MIN 2 website and the Electronic Submission System Platform.

2- Consult the National Documents available in the box on the right. Also read the specific National funding regulations of all the participating countries involved in your consortium (including your own), available in the National/regional Funding Regulations. Non-eligible partners may lead to the rejection of the whole consortium.

3- Access the online submission platform and proceed according to your role.

4- Each Portuguese partner (or coordinator) has to send to the Call National Contact Point a Statement of Commitment duly signed, dated and stamped by the Head of the Portuguese applicant organization and by the Principal Investigator, until 7 days after the proposal submission deadline. FCT may later require the original of the statement of commitment.
