ERA-SynBio

Transnational Cooperation

ERASynBio

FCT was a member of an ERA-NET project in Synthetic Biology, ERASynBio (2012-2015), a network of 16 European partners working together to promote the robust development of Synthetic Biology and to structure and coordinate national efforts and funding programs. The network was funded as an ERA-NET by the European Commission under FP7 running from 2012 until 2014. From 2015 onwards, ERASynBio is operating as a self-sustainable initiative, i.e. without the financial support of the EC (https://www.erasynbio.eu/), with most ERA-NET partners continuing their collaboration in the next years.

ERASynBio has launched two joint transnational calls, in 2013 and 2014, leading to the funding of 15 projects. However none had Portuguese participation. Apart from the joint calls, one major effort of the network was the development of a Strategic Vision accompanied by a series of targeted recommendations designed to empower national and international funding organizations, policy bodies and other stakeholders.
