PARSUK – Portuguese Association of Researchers and Students in the United Kingdom – is an independent and non-profit association, without political affiliation. PARSUK was created in 2008 to promote communication within the community of Portuguese researchers and students in the UK. It currently has more than 1500 members. In 2019, FCT and PARSUK signed a protocol to promote the scientific diplomacy between Portugal and the UK, and to establish linkages between the vast network of Portuguese scientists in the UK and our national communities. In particular, it was created a Scientific Council to promote sinergies between institutions, and to interact with governing bodies and the Portugues Embassy in the UK.
Research grants (up to 3,000 EUR each) are available to support the establishment and the development of research links between institutions in the UK and Portugal. Each grant should have a total duration between 3 months and 6 months, and may include multiple visits within this period. The Portuguese and UK lead applicants must both have contracts with their home institutions that exceed the lifetime of the grant.
