Sobre a unidade
This research unit with 9 PhD researchers is new, part at least of its members having moved from NEGE (Unit #3183) to build a new team with a better internal climate. The leadership of the unit coordinator (Minoo Farhangmehr) is certainly more favourably perceived among members. The unit members understand that there is a long way to go but they were open for suggestions how they could improve.

The unit is basically involved in marketing and strategy management. It took and takes efforts to cooperate with other groups in Marketing in Portugal and in this way they may create a Portuguese Marketing Centre.
Positive points

The leadership is good and the willingness to build an academic team based on sharing ideas and projects is clear.

The publication record includes articles in good or medium ranked international journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science or the Journal of Business Research, a promising record for a new team.

Waeknesses

However, the research output is still low in quantity and quality. Publications have to be improved in the direction of top ranked journals.

The group is possibly too small and the teaching load too heavy to ensure favorable conditions to a take-off.

In spite of these significant negative points and taking into account the fact that the unit is new, but has potential, indicated by some good publications obtained by its members in the past, the panel has decided to support it for funding.
