It is not mandatory to adjust the monthly maintenance allowance, as the academic degree hold at the date of the signature of the contract is binding, and therefore also the value of the allowance granted.
However, in case the contracting institutions believe that there has been a change of the original preconditions underlying this grant, in the framework of which the new academic degree of the grant recipient is relevant, they may choose not to renew the grant and to launch a call for a new typology, provided that FCT has been informed in due course and has duly approved it.
