MIT Portugal and UT Austin Portugal open Calls for Exploratory Proposals
FCT opened in January two calls for Exploratory Research proposals, as part of the MIT Portugal and UTAustin-Portugal programs. These calls will fund up to 32 projects, through the allocation of a total of 3.2 million euros.
Exploratory Research Projects under the MIT Portugal Program framework should develop innovative products and services of high technological performance, in partnerships between the public and private sectors and institutions of the National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN). Projects can be submitted under the themes of integrative research based in the context of the Atlantic International Research Center (AIR Center); sustainable and data driven urban systems; new industrial concepts and smart factories; bio & medical devices; and sustainable transportation systems. Application deadline is 8 March, 2017.
The call for exploratory research projects under the UTAustin-Portugal Program aims to promote and finance exploratory scientific projects proposed by teams of specialists and researchers. Proposals can be submitted under the themes related to the initiative CoLab – Emerging Technologies Research (digital media, advanced computing, applied mathematics and nanotechnology) and to scientific areas in the context of the AIR Centre (space science; clean tech energy; environment, atmospheric science and climate change; ocean science; data science, cyber infrastructure and e-science). Applications are open until 23 March, 2017.
