ERA-IB-2

ERA-NET in Industrial Biotechnology: 2012–2016

FCT was a partner in ERA-IB-2 (2011-2016), which continued the ERA-IB network (2006-2011), a project dedicated to promoting transnational cooperation between funding agencies for research in Industrial Biotechnology.

ERA-IB-2 began in December 2011 and involved 19 partners from 14 countries (Germany with four representative agencies, Belgium with two representative agencies, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Israel, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Romania, Russia, and Turkey)ERA-IB-2 launched 5 Calls (JTC-3, JTC-4, JTC-5, JTC-6, and JTC-7).

The participation of FCT in ERA-IB and subsequently in ERA-IB-2 contributed to increasing Portugal's internationalization and competitiveness in the field of biotechnology, facilitating the establishment of cross-border partnerships in industrial biotechnology research. Since 2006, through seven joint Calls , 17 transnational projects with Portuguese participation have been funded, involving 21 teams and 8 companies. The new ERA-NET Cofund in Biotechnology, in which FCT also participates, began in December 2016 and aims to continue this collaboration.
