Science Counter

This service, consisting of three functions, is aimed at FCT funding recipients, potential recipients, and the general public.
Its goal is to improve FCT's support to the public, promoting greater accessibility, proximity, and appreciation by supplementing the information available on FCT's institutional website.

Virtual and Physical Counter

The Science Desk offers a virtual assistantin the form of a chatbot installed on the website, which allows users to ask questions and get answers based on the content of the FCT’s institutional website.

It also has a physical service counter, which will soon be open at the Ciência XXI Campus on Av. do Brasil to provide in-person assistance to the public. At this location, staff will provide information about FCT’s services and funding mechanisms.

This virtual and physical information service is aimed at a diverse audience, including potential beneficiaries of FCT funding, public administration, companies, and the general public.

Researcher Matching

The Researcher Matching service is a feature of the Science Desk that includes a chatbot with a search function on the CIÊNCIAVITAE platform, enabling companies, government agencies, and other civil society organizations to identify researchers and R&D entities that meet their criteria and needs.

Funding Management Systems – myFCT

The myFCT platform, within the Science Desk, now has two more functionalities: the Studentships Funding Management System , aimed at beneficiaries of... Studentships for doctoral studies; and the Scientific Employment Funding Management System , for the institutions benefiting from this funding instrument.

These two systems allow the entire lifecycle of funding granted by the FCT to be fully managed through the myFCT platform. This includes, in particular, the publication of the... Calls The process includes the submission of applications, the evaluation of applications, the approval of applications to be funded, and the management of funding by the beneficiaries.

With the introduction of these management systems, services for beneficiaries of these financing instruments can be provided entirely through online services, streamlining processes and reducing the need for mail, telephone, and email.


The Science Desk is supported by Measure 5 of the “Science + Digital” program under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), aimed at accelerating the digital transformation and digitization of science and the support services for the National Science and Technology System (SNCT), thereby promoting greater competitiveness in the economy, society, public administration, and the business sector.
