ERA-MIN 2
Implementation of coordinated research and innovation programs in raw materials at European level in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the industry and the shift to the circular economy.

ERA-MIN 2 is the ERA-NET Cofund in raw materials, supported by the European Commission's Horizon 2020, which started on December 1, 2016 and lasts for five years, coordinated by FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology (Portugal).
ERA-MIN 2 is a pan-European network of research and innovation funding programmes, made up of 21 public organizations from 11 Member States (Germany, Slovenia, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Sweden), two Member State regions (Flanders-Belgium and Castile-Leon-Spain), one Associated Country (Turkey) and four third countries (South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and Chile).
Based on the experience of the European project ERA-MIN (2011-2015), ERA-MIN 2 aims to strengthen and consolidate the coordination of research and innovation programs in the area of non-energy, non-agricultural raw materials (metallic, construction and industrial minerals), in accordance with the integrated European Raw Materials Initiative strategy, the Strategic Implementation Plan of the European Innovation Partnership for Raw Materials and the ERA-MIN research agenda.
Through the implementation of three Joint Calls for transnational collaborative research and innovation projects, ERA-MIN 2 will support needs-driven research in primary resources, secondary resources and substitution of critical raw materials, in a circular economy approach, as well as in cross-cutting themes such as mitigation of environmental impacts and public awareness. The main objective of this activity is to give the research and innovation community the opportunity to apply for coordinated funding at a global level, accessing cutting-edge knowledge and new markets and reducing the fragmentation of research and innovation funding in Europe and globally.
