ERA-NET COFUND BlueBioeconomy (2018–2023)

BlueBioeconomy Cofund is the result of a collaboration between JPI Oceans and the former ERA-NET COFASP and ERA-MBT, bringing together 26 partners from 16 countries with the mission to:

• Create synergies between aquaculture and fisheries (genetic evaluation and digitization) and use biotechnology to develop food traceability systems;
• Unlocking the potential of the microbiome for the development of aquaculture, fisheries, and food processing;
• Apply recent ICT developments in blue biotechnology (IoT, machine learning, big data);
• Promote innovation in the use of underutilized material, fisheries and aquaculture waste, with the goal of achieving zero waste.

The main objective of Bluebioeconomy Cofund is to establish an R&I funding scheme that strengthens Europe's position in the blue economy. The first Call was launched in December 2018.
