NEWA

FCT is a member of ERA-NET PLUS NEWA – New European Wind Atlas, a network with nine partners from eight countries. NEWA is expected to have a direct impact on the development of new wind energy technologies through the publication of a European Wind Atlas, which should promote:

• Reducing the costs of electricity generated from wind sources by mitigating the risks associated with the design and operation of large-scale wind turbines through better knowledge of wind conditions;
• Better quantification of European wind potential, and production of data and models to improve spatial planning tools and operations, promoting efficiency in the implementation of wind farms.
