NORFACE
New Opportunities for Cooperation in Research Funding in Europe
NORFACE is a partnership between twelve research funding organizations to increase cooperation in research and research policy in Europe. The twelve partners involved are the social science research organizations of Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Canada and Austria participate in NORFACE as associate partners.
NORFACE is an ambitious program of communication, inquiry, experience sharing, and action. Over the five years of the project, partners will initiate a range of initiatives designed to produce new levels of cooperation in research policy and practice.
The work plan follows a logical progression, starting with the establishment of effective management of the NORFACE network, moving on to information exchange, analysis, research cooperation, strategic thinking, and finally cooperation on two pilot programs and the launch of a large-scale transnational research program.
Joint Calls for research projects are one of the main objectives of ERA-NETs, as a mechanism for validating cooperative efforts between various funding agencies.
