The European Commission recently adopted the second strategic plan for Horizon Europe, which sets out key strategic guidelines for EU research and innovation funding for the last three years of the program (2025-2027).

On April 17, the 2023-2024 work programs were also updated, incorporating new funding opportunities that extend until 2025.

The ERC work program will be published in the next three months. The new work programs for the Pillar of Scientific Excellence (Pillar I) and Widening & ERA (WIDERA) are already available for consultation at the following links:

Regarding the Calls to the WIDERA program, and focusing on the part dedicated to the European Research Area (ERA Part of the WIDERA Program), the European Commission is organizing an information session on April 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ( Mainland Portugal time). This session does not require registration and will be broadcast via live streaming here.

Through its national contact points for Horizon Europe, FCT will also organize an information session on April 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., which will address various topics related to Pillar I and the WIDERA program. Register for the session here.

The FCT ensures national representation and coordination of the promotion of research and innovation activities in Pillar I and in the Horizontal Activity (Widening) of Horizon Europe (2021-2027).
