ERA - MIN Logo

ERA-MIN is an ERA-NET network in the area of industrial use of raw materials for European industries, supported by the European Commission's 7th Framework Program and starting in November 2011 and lasting four years. It aims to coordinate research funding programs to promote research into the sustainable supply of raw materials for European industries, in line with the European Raw Materials Initiative.

ERA-MIN focuses on issues related to the three segments of non-energy mineral resources: metallic minerals, minerals for industry and minerals for construction. The topics addressed by ERA-MIN cover the entire raw materials value chain: primary and secondary resources, substitution of critical elements, as well as cross-cutting topics such as environmental impact mitigation and raising public awareness.

To achieve its objectives, ERA-MIN's main activities are:

  • Mapping the European research community in the field of non-energy raw materials - public and private sectors.
  • Roadmap of research priorities and joint research actions.
  • Coordination of research funding programs in Europe and implementation of joint activities, especially joint Calls .
  • Increase in the number of partners in the ERA-MIN consortium and international cooperation with countries outside Europe.

ERA-MIN's activities and the maintenance of the defined objectives continued in ERA-NET cofund ERA-MIN 2 - Research & Innovation Programme on Raw Materials to foster Circular Economy and, currently, in ERA-MIN 3. For more information, see the page dedicated to ERA-MIN 3.
