Created on the initiative of the European Commission, Member States, and national organizations, EUP OHAMR aims to tackle the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This partnership adopts the "One Health" approach, which integrates the fields of human, animal, and environmental health, recognizing the interdependence between these sectors.
EUP OHAMR brings together 53 organizations from 30 countries, including government agencies, research institutions, and funding bodies. The partnership will run for ten years (2025-2035).
EUP OHAMR aims to:
- strengthen research and innovation based on the integrated "One Health" approach;
- develop innovative solutions to curb antimicrobial resistance;
- align policies, financing, and stakeholders to ensure coherence in action;
- promote the translation of scientific knowledge into practice;
- capacity building and infrastructure sharing, strengthening the European AMR research network.
This partnership is aligned with the European plan A European One Health Action Plan against AMR and with Global Health Strategy for 2025–2028of the World Health Organization.
The FCT and the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation are the Portuguese organizations that are part of OHAMR.
