90 Seconds of Science

FCT has supported the program "90 Segundos de Ciência" (90 Seconds of Science), which has been broadcast daily by Antena 1 since November 1, 2023. The program was launched in 2016 with the aim of presenting projects by Portuguese researchers in all areas of knowledge and from all parts of the country.

Under the terms of the protocol, the support will last for one year and the production of "90 Segundos de Ciência" will have "full editorial responsibility for the choice of interviewees and themes", as well as preparing the episodes for broadcast on Antena 1. The program is broadcast every weekday at 10:58 a.m. and 3:58 p.m. and is then available on its own website - 90segundosdeciencia.pt - and also on the public radio website.

Throughout its existence, "90 Segundos de Ciência" has already won some important awards, such as the Gulbenkian Knowledge Award in 2019, the Acesso Cultura award in 2018 and the Podes 2023 award, which highlights the best national podcasts in the Radio category.

As a national public agency supporting research in science, technology and innovation, the FCT's mission is to stimulate the dissemination of the contribution of scientific knowledge to society.
