90 Seconds of Science

FCT supports the program “90 Seconds of Science,” which has been broadcast daily on Antena 1 since November 1, 2023. The program was launched in 2016 with the aim of presenting projects by Portuguese researchers in all areas of knowledge and from all regions of the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, the support will last for one year and the producers of "90 Segundos de Ciência" will have "full editorial responsibility for choosing interviewees and topics," as well as preparing the episodes for broadcast on Antena 1. The program is broadcast every weekday at 10:58 a.m. and 3:58 p.m., and is then available on its own website— 90segundosdeciencia.pt —and also on the public radio website.

Throughout its existence, "90 Segundos de Ciência" has won several important awards, such as the Gulbenkian Knowledge Award in 2019, the Acesso Cultura Award in 2018, and the Podes 2023 Award, which highlights the best national podcasts in the Radio category.

As a national public agency supporting research in science, technology, and innovation, FCT's mission is to stimulate the dissemination of scientific knowledge to society.
