Applications for the second edition of the Marine Robotics Summer School are open until April 18. This year's edition will take place from July 11 to 22, 2022, on Faial Island in the Azores.

The organization will support the travel and accommodation expenses of the selected candidates. The aim of this initiative is to provide students with experience in marine robotics, specifically in its applications to ocean observation, archaeology, and ecosystem mapping. Selected participants can attend lectures by scientists from the United States (MIT) and Europe, attend workshops on ocean sciences and the use of robotics in ocean research and monitoring, participate in field activities on oceanographic phenomena in the Azores, among other activities.

The number of participants is limited to a selection of 20 candidates. More information and details about the application process are available on the MIT Portugal website.

The Summer School is a joint organization of the MIT Portugal Program, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the Laboratory of Underwater Systems and Technologies (LSTS-FEUP), and the University of the Azores, with the support of the Regional Government of the Azores. The course will also involve the participation of the AIR Centre, the Collaborative Laboratory for the Atlantic (CoLAB Atlantic), the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation, the Azores Sea School, and the Institute for Marine Science Research – OKEANOS.
