2nd FCT-AKDN Call : 21 projects selected

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Aga Khan Foundation have released the results of the 2nd Joint Call , launched under the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the Ismaili Imamat in 2016. The results are available for consultation here.

This edition of the Call sought to support new initiatives and collaborations between Portuguese, African and AKDN scientific and academic research institutions, with the aim of developing international partnerships that contribute to strengthening research capacities, encouraging and strengthening scientific, technical, human and social skills and capacities aimed at advancing Quality of Life in Africa.

Of the 203 eligible applications submitted, 42 made it through to the 2nd evaluation phase, and 21 applications were proposed for funding, spread across 13 African countries. The projects supported under this Call will last 36 months and represent a total investment of 5 million euros.

As with the ongoing 1st Call projects, the 21 projects will be monitored by an External Monitoring and Evaluation Committee to ensure that the proposed scientific results are achieved and that the desired impact on the Quality of Life of the African countries involved is achieved.
