30 years of National Scientific and Technological Research Conferences

The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education (MCTES), in collaboration with Agência Ciência Viva, is promoting a conference entitled "On the Future of Science in Portugal, 30 years after the May 1987 Conference" on May 11 at the Picoas Forum .

The initiative, which will be attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Prime Minister, António Costa, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and also the President of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science, Alexandre Quintanilha, aims to be an event for reflection on the main challenges and opportunities for the future of science in Portugal.

The conference will mark the 30th anniversary of the National Scientific and Technological Research Days, which took place at the Picoas Forum from May 11 to 15, 1987, and led to the formulation of the first Mobilizing Program for Science and Technology in Portugal.

The event will be followed by celebrations for National Scientists' Day, which will take place on May 16 at the Rivoli Theater in Porto, as part of the "Paths of Knowledge" conference series .
