7 new projects in the ICT area are the bet of CMU Portugal Program
FCT announced the results of the Call for Exploratory Research Projects under the CMU Portugal Program, for 2019, in which 38 applications were evaluated and of which 7 were recommended for funding. The total investment for the realization of these projects is 435,056.15 euros, and the maximum funding limit for each project is 70 thousand euros.
This Call aims to develop research activities between Portuguese universities and the American Carnegie Mellon University. The project will involve 12 research institutions from across the country in collaboration with the American Carnegie Mellon University. The projects selected in this edition will allow the exploration of subjects as diverse as robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, language processing, among others.
This is the third Call for exploratory projects promoted by FCT and CMU Portugal. Since the creation of the CMU Portugal Program in 2006 more than 60 research projects developed by ICT groups from all over the country have already been funded.
This Call was held under the partnership agreement between FCT and Carnegie Mellon University, integrated in the goPORTUGAL - Global Partnerships in Science and Technology program, promoted by FCT, and whose mission and objectives are to enhance the process of internationalization of scientific and technological research in Portugal, developing the creation of scientific and qualified employment and fostering the creation and growth of new science and technology based companies. The goPORTUGAL program includes partnerships with other leading foreign research institutions, such as UTAustin, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London or Fraunhofer.
