7 new projects in the ICT area are the focus of the CMU Portugal Program
FCT announced the result of the Call for Exploratory Research Projects within the scope of the CMU Portugal Program , referring to 2019, in which 38 applications were evaluated and of which 7 were recommended for funding. The total investment for carrying out these projects is R$435,056.15, with the maximum financing limit for each project being R$70,000.
This Call aims to develop research activities between Portuguese universities and the American University Carnegie Mellon. 12 research institutions from across the country will participate in the project in collaboration with the American University Carnegie Mellon. The projects selected in this edition will allow us to explore subjects as diverse as robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, language processing, among others.
This is the third Call for exploratory projects promoted by FCT and CMU Portugal. Since the creation of the CMU Portugal Program in 2006, more than 60 research projects developed by ICT groups from all over the country have been funded.
This Call was carried out under the partnership agreement between FCT and Carnegie Mellon University, integrated into the goPORTUGAL program – Global Partnerships in Science and Technology , promoted by FCT, and whose mission and objectives are to value the process of internationalization of scientific and technological research in Portugal, developing the creation of scientific and qualified employment and fostering the creation and growth of new science and technology-based companies. The goPORTUGAL program integrates partnerships with other leading foreign research institutions, such as UTAustin, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London or Fraunhofer.
