Seven new projects in the field of ICT are the focus of the CMU Portugal Program
The FCT announced the results of Call Exploratory Research Projects under the CMU Portugal Program for 2019, in which 38 applications were evaluated and 7 were recommended for funding. The total investment for the implementation of these projects is €435,056.15, with a maximum funding limit of €70,000 for each project.
This Call to develop research activities between Portuguese universities and Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. Twelve research institutions from across the country will participate in the project in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University. The projects selected in this edition will explore topics as diverse as robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, and language processing, among others.
This is the third Call exploratory projects promoted by FCT and CMU Portugal. Since the creation of the CMU Portugal Program in 2006, more than 60 research projects developed by ICT groups across the country have been funded.
This Call under the partnership agreement between FCT and Carnegie Mellon University, as part of the goPORTUGAL program – Global Partnerships in Science and Technology program, promoted by FCT, whose mission and objectives are to enhance the internationalization of scientific and technological research in Portugal, developing the creation of scientific and skilled jobs and fostering the creation and growth of new science and technology-based companies. The goPORTUGAL program includes partnerships with other leading foreign research institutions, such as UTAustin, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London, and Fraunhofer.
