7 new ICT projects are the focus of the CMU Portugal Program
FCT has announced the results of the 2019 Call for Exploratory Research Projects under the CMU Portugal Program, in which 38 applications were evaluated and 7 of which were recommended for funding. The total investment for these projects is 435,056.15 euros, and the maximum funding limit for each project is 70,000 euros.
This Call aims to develop research activities between Portuguese universities and the American Carnegie Mellon University. Twelve research institutions from across the country will take part in the project in collaboration with the American University Carnegie Mellon. The projects selected in this edition will explore subjects as diverse as robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems and language processing, among others.
This is the third Call for exploratory projects promoted by FCT and CMU Portugal. Since the creation of the CMU Portugal Program in 2006, more than 60 research projects developed by ICT groups from all over the country have been funded.
This Call took place under the partnership agreement between FCT and Carnegie Mellon University, as part of the goPORTUGAL - Global Partnerships in Science and Technology program, promoted by FCT, whose mission and objectives are to enhance the process of internationalizing scientific and technological research in Portugal, developing the creation of scientific and qualified jobs and fostering the creation and growth of new science and technology-based companies. The goPORTUGAL program includes partnerships with other leading foreign research institutions, such as UTAustin, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London and Fraunhofer.
