The 2019 edition of the AAL Forum, which is part of the Active and Assisted Living Program, will take place from September 23rd to 25th in Aarhus, Denmark, and "early bird" registration runs until May 31st. This year, the Forum's program committee has the experience and contribution of Portuguese entities, Caritas Diocesan of Coimbra and the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN). In fact, Caritas hosted the Forum Programme Committee (FPC) meeting in Coimbra last April.

The Forum is an annual event where several technology-based projects are presented, oriented to improve the quality of life of elderly people and to meet market needs that result from demographic aging. Most of the projects arise from the development and implementation of the AAL Program, involving everything from robots and games to applications and sensors, or products aimed at improving the quality of life, for more independence and socialization, and for the sustainability of the social and health system.

On the other hand, the event is also an opportunity to debate policy priorities and societal challenges in the area of healthy and active aging, in a close environment with the surrounding community that includes policy makers, the scientific community, institutions linked to innovation (such as incubators), health and social support for the elderly (from relatives and neighbors, to gerontologists and physicians, and the welfare state).
