The 2019 edition of the AAL Forum, which is part of the Active and Assisted Living Program, will take place from September 23 to 25 in Aarhus, Denmark, with early bird registration open until May 31. This year, the Forum program committee is benefiting from the experience and contribution of Portuguese entities, Cáritas Diocesana de Coimbra and Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN). In fact, Cáritas hosted the Forum Program Committee (FPC) meeting in Coimbra last April.

The Forum is an annual event where various technology-based projects are presented, aimed at improving the quality of life of older people and meeting market needs resulting from demographic aging. Most projects arise from the development and implementation of the AAL Program, involving everything from robots and games to applications and sensors, or products aimed at improving quality of life, greater independence and socialization, and the sustainability of the social and health system.

On the other hand, the event also provides an opportunity to discuss political priorities and societal challenges in the area of healthy and active aging, in a close-knit environment such as the surrounding community, which includes policy makers, the scientific community, institutions linked to innovation (such as incubators), the health sector, and social support for the elderly (from family members and neighbors to gerontologists and doctors, as well as the welfare state).
