Second edition of Call ‘la Caixa’ Foundation Call – i4b now open

Applications forthe second edition of the‘la Caixa’ Foundation’s Call health research projectsare open until January 15. The Call the Iberian Initiative for Biomedical Research and Innovation, i4b, established in the protocol signed between 'la Caixa' and FCT in February 2018, under which FCT undertakes to match the investment made by 'la Caixa' in projects led by Portuguese institutions within the scope of this Call. La Caixa will hold two information sessions in Portugal: the first inPorto, at the Biodiversity Gallery of the Centro Ciência Viva / Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto, on November 28, and the second inLisbon, at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Centro Ciência Viva, on November 29.

The first edition of Call 785 applications, 167 of which came from Portugal. The results were announced in July this year, with eight Portuguese projects selected, representing a total allocation of around five million euros, distributed across four areas: neurosciences, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and cross-cutting biomedical projects. In addition to the eight i4b projects, Portuguese researchers participated in two other projects selected in the “la Caixa” Call .
