Second edition of the Call of Projects Foundation 'la Caixa' – i4b

Applications for the 2nd edition of the Call for Health Research Projects from the 'la Caixa' Foundation are open until January 15th. THE Call is part of the Iberian Initiative for Biomedical Research and Innovation, i4b , established in the protocol signed between 'la Caixa' and FCT in February 2018, under which FCT undertakes to match the investment made by 'la Caixa' in projects led by Portuguese institutions within the scope of this Call . 'la Caixa' will hold two information sessions in Portugal: the first in Porto , at the Biodiversity Gallery of the Ciência Viva Center / Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto, on November 28, and the second in Lisbon , Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Ciência Viva Center, on November 29.

The 1st edition of Call had 785 applications, 167 of which were from Portugal. The results were presented in July this year, with eight Portuguese projects selected, which represented a total allocation of around five million euros, distributed across four areas: neurosciences, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases and transversal biomedical projects. In addition to the eight i4b projects, Portuguese researchers participated in 2 other projects selected in the Call “la Caixa” Foundation.
