Thematic Agendas for Research and Innovation

Invitation to the Scientific and Technological Community

Following Council of Ministers Resolution no. 32/2016 of June 3, and in particular as defined in the annex "Commitment to Knowledge and Science: the Commitment to the Future", FCT has promoted a process to draw up fourteen Research and Innovation Agendas on the topics identified below. In this context, the FCT invites all interested parties to submit contributions to the ongoing discussions, using the form provided below, by May 31, 2017.

The R&I Agendas aim to mobilize the different national players, helping to find answers based on scientific knowledge to different challenges facing society. It is hoped that the R&I Agendas will help identify challenges and opportunities and foster coordination between the different players in Portugal's research and innovation system, from a long-term perspective. In addition to identifying the country's strengths in each theme, the agendas will also make it possible to point out areas that are emerging and promising for the Portuguese research and innovation community. The promotion of these agendas does not interfere with the process of regularly opening Calls for funding promoted by the FCT in all scientific fields.

The R&I Agendas are developed by members of the scientific and business community and other sectors of Portuguese society, specialists in each topic, in collaboration with the FCT, and will count on the contributions of all those who, individually or institutionally, wish to take part in this exercise.

We therefore invite all interested parties to participate by briefly answering 4 questions, which aim to assess the challenges and future prospects for research and innovation in each theme, using the form provided below.

Before the work is completed, a preliminary version of the documents will be presented to the public for discussion.
