Announcement of the winners of the 2018 Arquivo.pt Awards

The Arquivo.pt 2018 Awards were announced at "Ciência 2018 - Meeting with Science and Technology," which is taking place July 2-4 at the Lisbon Congress Center.

The 1st prize, worth 10. 000 euros, was awarded to the work "Tell me stories", led by Ricardo Campos. The 2nd prize, worth 3,000 euros, was awarded to the work "Framing the concept of 'homosexuality' in 20 years of publication of the Expresso newspaper: a mixed study (quantitative and qualitative)", authored by João Teixeira Duarte. The 3rd prize, worth 2.000 euros, was awarded to the work "Opinion Archive", by Miguel Won. In this first edition of the Arquivo.pt Awards, works in areas such as Technology, Social Sciences or Humanities were received.

The awards were presented by the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, the Minister for the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Leitão Marques, and the Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, during the plenary session "New Frontiers of the Digital Age in Europe and the World".

These awards are given by FCT with the aim of highlighting original and innovative works that use the thousands of pages available on Arquivo.pt as a source, and that highlight the importance of preserving the information that is published on the Internet.
