Special support for R&D projects “Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory”
The FCT has opened applications for special support for R&D projects under the theme "Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory," which aims to fund interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects within the scope of the Never Forget Project—National Program on Holocaust Remembrance. Applications may be submitted until January 15, 2021.
Portugal became a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance in December 2019 and, in line with the organization's mission, has made a greater commitment to promoting further education, remembrance, and research on the subject. In this context, Holocaust Remembrance is the subject of Council of Ministers Resolution No. 51/2020 of June 25, and its program includes a set of initiatives to strengthen knowledge, preserve memory, and disseminate information.
Taking the Holocaust and its conceptual framework as a reference point, through special support for R&D projects, "Portugal and the Holocaust: research and memory," the aim is to promote scientific research, developing new knowledge in various areas from a multidisciplinary perspective, with contributions from history, philosophy, human rights, religious studies, political science, law, sociology, literature, the arts—in short, with developments in the social sciences and humanities, reinforcing their presence on the national scientific agenda.
The projects to be developed must produce results that are subject to dissemination and communication, including one or more of the following channels: Databases with information collection; Open access reports and working documents; Formal scientific publication submitted; Educational resources: audiovisual, animated films, music, theater, others; Informative material for communicating the results produced; Public presentation of results, using digital formats if necessary; Provision of Documentary Description Tools (inventories, catalogs).
This support has a budget allocation of €200,000, and the selected projects will be funded up to a maximum of €40,000 per project, for a maximum duration of 12 months. Approved projects will be funded by national funds through the FCT budget.
