Arquivo.pt Award

The Arquivo.pt Awards 2018 were announced at “Science 2018 – Meeting with Science and Technology”, which is taking place from 2 to 4 July, at the Lisbon Congress Centre.
The 1st prize, worth 10,000 euros, was awarded to the work “Tell me Stories”, led by Ricardo Campos. The 2nd prize, of 3 thousand euros, was given to the work “Framing the concept of ‘homosexuality’ in 20 years of publication of the Expresso newspaper: a mixed study (quantitative and qualitative)”, by João Teixeira Duarte. The 3rd prize, worth 2 thousand euros, was given to the work “Arquivo de Opinião”, by Miguel Won. In this first edition of the Arquivo.pt Awards, works were received in areas such as: Technology, Social Sciences or Humanities.
The awards were presented by the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Leitão Marques, and by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, during the plenary session “New frontiers of the digital age in Europe and the World”.
These awards are given by the FCT with the aim of highlighting original and innovative works that use the thousands of pages available on Arquivo.pt as a source, and that highlight the importance of preserving information that is published on the Internet.
