Biodiversa+, the European Biodiversity Partnership, has opened a transnationalCall for joint Biodiversa+ research projects 2021-2022, under the theme "Supporting the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems across land and sea". The Call for pre-proposals is open until November 30 (15:00 CET) and full proposals can be submitted until April 14, 2022 (15:00 CET).
There are three Call themes supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT):

(2) Multiple benefits and costs of biodiversity and ecosystem protection: synergies and trade-offs;
(3) Effective management and equitable governance to deliver bolder conservation outcomes.
This Call has a budget of 400,000 euros from the FCT, with 80,000 euros being the maximum amount of funding to be awarded to a consortium with Portuguese participation and 120,000 euros to a consortium with Portuguese coordination.
BiodivERsA is a pan-European network of national and regional funding organizations that has been promoting research on biodiversity, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions since 2008. The European Commission, through the Environment and Research and Innovation departments, co-conceived Biodiversa+, a co-funded European Biodiversity Partnership, which is part of the new actions included in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
FCT is a member of Biodiversa+ "Rescuing Biodiversity to Safeguard Life on Earth" and participates in the European Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, which brings together 76 funding organizations and environmental policy actors from 39 European and associated countries to work on its five main objectives: (1) Plan and support biodiversity research and innovation through a shared strategy, joint annual Calls for research projects and capacity building activities; (2) Establish a network of harmonized schemes to improve the monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services across Europe; (3) Contribute to state-of-the-art knowledge for the deployment of nature-based solutions and biodiversity valorization in the private sector; (4) Ensure efficient scientific support for policy formulation and implementation in Europe; (5) Strengthen the relevance and impact of pan-European biodiversity research in a global context.
