Closing dates for PhD Scholarships and R&D Project Grants

The FCT informs that, after careful consideration, it has decided to maintain the closing dates for Call Studentships on April 28, 2020, and the Call R&D Projects in all scientific areas on April 30, 2020.

It should be noted that, previously, taking into account the circumstances arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, the FCT took the initiative to extend the application period for both Calls by one month, thereby allowing the scientific and academic community to adapt to the new conditions of remote working.

It is now important to return to normal conditions in the implementation of scientific policy and to ensure that the science funding system maintains the regularity and predictability that the scientific community itself has been demanding, so as not to jeopardize the completion of the evaluation processes this year, with the respective contracting of projects and the start of doctoral programs.

The FCT highlights the dynamism shown by the Portuguese scientific community during this difficult period, and its active and committed participation in new challenges in research, technological development, innovation, and social intervention. The response to the initiatives launched by the FCT has been excellent, starting with the first round of applications for "Research 4 Covid-19," the results of which are already known, as well as the Calls, still open, for R&D projects "AI 4 Covid-19" and "Doctorates 4 Covid-19."

The second application period for "Research 4 Covid-19" will open in the coming days. Other initiatives and Calls are also underway Calls PT2020, thereby broadening the scope and diversifying the type of projects and support for research and innovation.
