Call of projects for Research on Forest Fires 2018

Registration for the second edition of the program is open until February 26th. Call of Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects within the scope of Prevention and Fighting of Forest Fires. THE Call It foresees that up to R$300 thousand will be allocated per project, and has a total financial envelope of R$5 million.

This Call is part of the R&D Mobilization Program for the prevention and combat of forest fires, created by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 159/2017, following the recommendations of the report of the Independent Technical Commission that investigated the Pedrógão Grande fires. A total funding of 15 million euros is expected for research projects selected under the three Calls planned annual.

By supporting these projects, we aim to promote scientific research and innovation, strengthening scientific and technical skills and capabilities, ensuring the appropriation and incorporation of scientific knowledge in decision support in operational systems, as well as the production of new knowledge aimed at solving problems. Research topics are varied and may include forest resource management and fire prevention, firefighting, the health and safety of firefighting technicians, and meteorology, forecasting and risk management, including communication systems, and the valorization of biomass, among others.
