Call for IC&DT Projects received 5847 applications
The FCT Call for Funding for Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT) in all Scientific Domains received 5,847 applications. On the last day of applications, April 30, more than half of the proposals were submitted (51%). In FCT's history, this is the Call that has received the highest number of applications.
Applications are distributed by region as follows: Lisbon 2221 (38%), North 1914 (32.7%), Center 1377 (23.6%), Algarve 150 (2.6%), Alentejo 131 (2.2%), Madeira 33 (0.6%) and Azores 21 (0.4%). The majority of the projects submitted have women as the researchers responsible (3053 projects, 52%).
In terms of scientific area, the applications were distributed among the Call's 33 evaluation panels, with the largest number corresponding to the Bioengineering and Biotechnology panel (420 applications and 7.2% of the total), followed by Biological Sciences (321 applications and 5.5% of the total) and Experimental Biology and Biochemistry (311 applications and 5.3% of the total).

After submitting the applications, the Declaration of Commitment was made available to applicants, a document that must be signed by the researcher responsible and the beneficiary institutions and submitted by 5pm Lisbon time on May 29, 2020. This FCT Call for IC&DT Projects in all Scientific Domains will support projects that are approved for a maximum period of 36 months, extendable for a maximum period of 12 months in justified cases, with each project being funded up to a maximum of 250 thousand euros. A budget of 75 million euros is earmarked for this Call , to be financed by national funds through the FCT budget.
