Call for IC&DT Projects received 5847 applications
THE Call from FCT for the financing of Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT) in all Scientific Domains received 5847 applications. On the last day of registration, April 30, more than half of the proposals were submitted (51%). In the history of FCT, this is the Call which received the largest number of entries.
The applications are distributed by region as follows: Lisbon 2221 (38%), North 1914 (32.7%), Center 1377 (23.6%), Algarve 150 (2.6%), Alentejo 131 (2.2%), Madeira 33 (0.6%) and Azores 21 (0.4%). The majority of submitted projects have women as principal investigators (3053 projects, 52%).
In terms of scientific area, the applications were distributed among the 33 evaluation panels of the Call , with the largest number corresponding to the Bioengineering and Biotechnology panel (420 registrations and 7.2% of the total), followed by Biological Sciences (321 registrations and 5.5% of the total) and Experimental Biology and Biochemistry (311 registrations and 5.3% of the total).

After the submission of applications, the Declaration of Commitment was made available to candidates, a document that must be signed by the responsible researcher and the beneficiary institutions and submitted by 5 pm, Lisbon time, on May 29, 2020. This Call of the FCT for IC&DT Projects in all Scientific Domains will support projects that are approved for a maximum period of 36 months, extendable for a maximum period of 12 months in justified cases, with each project being financed up to a maximum limit of 250 thousand euros. For this Call A budget allocation of 75 million euros is planned, to be financed by national funds through the FCT budget.
