Call IC&DT Projects received 5,847 applications
Call for funding for Scientific Research and Technological Development (IC&DT) Projects in all Scientific Fields received 5,847 applications. On the last day for applications, April 30, more than half of the proposals (51%) were submitted. In the history of the FCT, this is the Call received the highest number of applications.
Applications are distributed by region as follows: Lisbon 2,221 (38%), North 1,914 (32.7%), Center 1,377 (23.6%), Algarve 150 (2.6%), Alentejo 131 (2.2%), Madeira 33 (0.6%) and Azores 21 (0.4%). The majority of projects submitted have female principal investigators (3053 projects, 52%).
In terms of scientific area, applications were distributed across the 33 evaluation panels of Call, with the highest number corresponding to the Bioengineering and Biotechnology panel (420 applications and 7.2% of the total), followed by Biological Sciences (321 applications and 5.5% of the total) and Experimental Biology and Biochemistry (311 applications and 5.3% of the total).
The FCT has already published the names of the Evaluation Panel Coordinators on its website.
After the submission of applications, the Declaration of Commitment was made available to candidates. This document must be signed by the principal investigator and the beneficiary institutions and submitted by 5:00 p.m. Lisbon time on May 29, 2020. This Call for IC&DT Projects in all Scientific Fields will support projects that are approved for a maximum period of 36 months, extendable for a maximum period of 12 months in justified cases, with each project receiving funding up to a maximum of €250,000. A budget allocation of €75 million Call planned for this Call , to be financed by national funds through the FCT budget.
