Released documentation for the Call for Attribution of PhD Studentships 2017

The Foundation for Science and Technology has today published the documents relating to Call para Atribuição de Studentships de Doutoramento 2017. The application period will run from 1 to 31 March, and it is planned to award 900 doctoral grants to Studentships .

The anticipation of Call to the month of March aims to allow applicants to know the result of Call before the beginning of the academic year, so that they can better plan their research. FCT intends that the opening of Call for the attribution of Studentships doctoral grants will always occur in the first quarter of the year.

The Studentships doctoral grants are a subsidy awarded to researchers in training to carry out activities of a scientific and technological nature under an exclusive dedication regime, with a view to obtaining a doctoral degree. Research carried out by doctoral researchers, consistent with Decree-Law 57/2016, should assume hiring as the normal bond, so the attribution of Studentships post-doctoral is not foreseen in this Call. The hiring of doctorate holders is a priority for FCT and will be reflected in the Call of Projects in all scientific domains, whose notice should be published by March, in the implementation of DL 57/2016, under which it is expected the opening of more than one thousand Calls to hire doctorate holders to be funded by FCT, and in other scientific employment opportunities that FCT will promote still in 2017.
