Documentation released for the Call Applications for Studentships 2017
The Foundation for Science and Technology published today the documents relating to Call the Award of Studentships 2017. The application period will run from March 1 to 31, with 900 Studentships expected to be awarded.
Call has been brought forward Call March so that applicants can find out the results Call the start of the academic year, enabling them to plan their research more effectively. The FCT intends for the Call the award of Studentships to always take place in the first quarter of the year.
Studentships are grants awarded to researchers in training to carry out scientific and technological activities on a full-time basis, with a view to obtaining a doctoral degree. Research carried out by PhD researchers, in accordance with Decree-Law 57/2016, should be based on employment as the normal form of contract, and therefore no Studentships will be awarded in this Call. The hiring of PhDs is a priority for the FCT and will be reflected in Call Projects in all scientific fields, the notice for which should be published by March, in implementation of DL 57/2016, under which it is expected that a further thousand Calls the hiring of PhD graduates will be financed by the FCT, and in other scientific employment opportunities that the FCT will promote in 2017.
