Science Meeting 2020 with new dates
The edition of the Meeting with Science and Technology in Portugal – Science 2020 has new dates, taking place on November 2, 3, and 4, 2020, at the Lisbon Congress Center. Registration for participation has been open since last March.
The event has been postponed until November due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting exceptional measures enacted by the Portuguese Government to contain the outbreak. The postponement of the meeting stems from the decision to avoid activities and initiatives that involve the physical participation of large numbers of people.
In November, Encontro Ciência hopes to bring together, as usual, the Portuguese scientific community and encourage interaction between researchers, also involving the business sector and the general public. It also aims to raise awareness of developments in different areas of research in the country.
In previous editions, an average of 4,000 people participated, more than 500 papers and over 700 posters were presented, and around 100 research institutions gave demonstrations of their R&D activities.
This year, the Meeting is curated by Helena Canhão, coordinator of the Center for Integrated Health Research at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Pedro Oliveira, professor and holder of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Chair at Copenhagen Business School and Nova School of Business and Economics, co-founders of Patient Innovation.
The Science Meeting 2020 is organized by FCT, with the collaboration of the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture Ciência Viva and the institutional support of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Higher Education and the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth, and Sport.
