Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in Portugal – Outlook for 2030
The publication "Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in Portugal – Perspectives for 2030" is available on the Government Portal. Thedocument was made public following the sectoral Council of Ministers meeting in Matosinhos on February 15 and outlines the national strategy for Portugal to achieve three main goals by 2030:
- Achieve an R&D investment level of 3% of GDP, with a contribution of 1/3 from public expenditure and 2/3 from private expenditure (corresponding to achieving an R&D investment of 1.8% of GDP in 2020);
- Achieve a level of 40% of graduates in higher education in the 30-34 age group by 2020 and 50% by 2030. Achieve a level of 60% of 20-year-olds participating in higher education by 2030;
- Achieve a European level of leadership in digital skills associated with Internet use, as well as market needs, business development, and specialized skills.
