FCT launched the 5th edition of Call for Individual Scientific Employment Call
Today, February 3, marks the start of the application period for the 5th edition of Call Individual Scientific Employment Call (CEEC Individual) from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which runs until 5:00 p.m. (Lisbon time) on March 3, 2022. It is expected that an additional 400 PhD researchers will be hired under the Scientific Employment Regulation (REC), with the Call to PhD holders of any nationality or stateless persons with a background in any scientific field.
The CEEC Individual is an Call that directly supports the hiring of PhD researchers in all scientific areas who wish to carry out their scientific research or technological development activities in Portugal, at institutions that are part of the National Science and Technology System (SNCT). In this Call must identify in advance in their application the host institution where they will carry out their research plan, and those who are selected are directly hired by that institution through FCT funding.
Individual ERC contracts last up to 6 years and are awarded according to four categories:
– Junior researcher (Ph.D. degree obtained within the last five years, with limited postdoctoral research experience in the scientific field to which they are applying);
– Assistant researcher (PhDs for more than 5 years and less than 12 years, with relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying and with limited scientific independence);
– Principal investigator (Ph.D. for more than 12 years, with a relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying, demonstrating some scientific independence in the last 3 years);
– Coordinating researcher (PhDs holding the title of habilitation or aggregation in Portugal, with a high-merit curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying, demonstrating scientific independence and evidence of leadership in that scientific area).
In the four editions already completed, through the CEEC Individual program, FCT has awarded a total of 1,500 contracts to PhD researchers, which will increase to 1,900 after the conclusion of this new Call is now beginning.
