FCT and “la Caixa” Foundation launch the 4th edition of the Promove Program

FCT and the “La Caixa” Foundation have renewed their collaboration agreement to continue the Promove Program and launched the 4th edition of Call Projects under this program. Applications for Promove 2022 are now open and will run until January 24, 2022.

The Promove Program aims to stimulate innovative initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of inland regions of Portugal. This program aims to focus on natural resource management, the creation of new development hubs, and attracting tourists and new residents. It will support innovative pilot projects, innovative ideas, and mobilizing research projects in four strategic areas identified by the Portuguese government: thermal waters, parks and nature reserves, studies on biological risks, and the development, promotion, and enhancement of new crops and natural products for the domestic and international markets.

The Promove Program, created in 2018 by the “la Caixa” Foundation in collaboration with BPI, has already supported a total of 26 projects and 13 innovative ideas, worth a total of around €4 million. Of this amount, €1.2 million was provided by FCT. Within its partnerships with the “La Caixa” Foundation, FCT also promotes the Call for Health Research – Iberian Initiative for Biomedical Research and Innovation – i4b and the Social Call – Iberian Initiative for Social Research and Innovation – i4s.
