FCT participates in the 2017 edition of the European Researchers' Night
Portugal is already set to host another edition of the European Researchers' Night (ERN) on September 29, an initiative that has been taking place in various European cities since 2005.
The FCT is taking part in the initiative by collecting testimonies from those who have participated in and been part of the history of science in Portugal over the last 50 years and those who will be part of its future, for the project "History and Memory of Science, Technology and Innovation in Portugal", from the FCT's Science and Technology Archive. To this end, two studios will be set up in Lisbon, one at the National Museum of Natural History and Science and the other at the Pavilion of Knowledge.
FCT will also be present at two European Corners, in Lisbon and Porto, where opportunities under the Horizon 2020 program will be presented, including information on applications for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and European Research Council Studentships .
The European Researchers' Night is promoted by the European Commission as part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, with the aim of celebrating science and bringing researchers and citizens closer together. It is also an excellent time to showcase the work and research carried out by Portuguese researchers, to provide experiences in various areas of knowledge to all citizens and thus achieve more efficient communication between research centers and civil society.
From the north to the south of the country, there are various activities promoted by the three consortia behind the project, namely FORESIGHT - Foreseeing Opportunities, Risks, Environmental and Security Issues for the next Generation: Highlighting Trends for 2030, which has the support of the National Network of Ciência Viva Centres in the field; SCILIFE - Science in everyday life, which divides its programming between the regions of Lisbon, Porto and Braga; and Ciência à Moda do Norte, which organizes activities at the Centro de Desportos e Congressos in Matosinhos.
The different programs offer various activities such as scientific experiments and demonstrations, workshops, conferences, practical workshops, games and quizzes, exhibitions, informal talks, debates and street entertainment.
