FCT participates in the European Researchers' Night 2019
The European Researchers' Night, promoted by the European Commission since 2005 and this year's exception, will take place this Friday, September 27. As in previous years, the FCT is once again taking part in the initiative, in the programme organized by the consortium coordinated by the University of Lisbon, between 6pm and midnight, at the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC). FCT will be presenting Arquivo.pt, the Science and Technology Archive and the Thematic Agendas for Research and Innovation, which are Foundation services/projects aimed not only at the scientific community but also at the general public.
“Science in the City” is the theme for the 2018-2019 biennium of the European Researchers’ Night and that is exactly what the event proposes to us, in several spaces in the country and throughout Europe. In addition to Lisbon (National Museum of Natural History, Príncipe Real garden and Botanical Garden), there are also activities in Braga, Coimbra, Monsaraz and Beja.
The initiative, which aims to bring science, researchers and society closer together, focuses mainly on the challenges that changes in urban communities will have to face in the coming decades, and how science can ensure quality of life in the cities of the future. The different programmes of the European Researchers' Night once again offer a very diverse set of activities, such as scientific experiments and demonstrations, workshops, conferences, practical workshops, games and quizzes, exhibitions, informal talks, debates and street entertainment.
