FCT calls for contributions to the R&D Agenda for the Atlantic

In recent months, the FCT has promoted a series of international workshops to define a research agenda for the Atlantic centered on the Azores, fostering North-South and transatlantic cooperation, with the aim of developing an international cooperation platform dedicated to integrated research in the areas of climate, earth observation, energy, space and oceans.

In these workshops, the interest of international research agencies, companies and policy makers from different countries and bodies in developing an international base for this research, in a privileged location in terms of geography and installed capacity: the Azores archipelago, has become increasingly clear. This is why the creation of the Azores International Research Centre – AIR Centre – is being proposed, capable of bringing together scientific, technological and business interests.

The FCT is now asking for contributions from the Portuguese scientific community for the preliminary document that will serve as a basis for establishing the agenda for the AIR Centre. The document is available here , and contributions can be sent to AIR.workshops@fct.pt .
