Future of Particle Physics: CERN Council defines European Strategy
At a session held on June 19, the CERN Council unanimously adopted the updated European strategy for the future of particle physics in Europe. The strategy includes recommendations that highlight the scientific, technological, economic and human capital potential of particle physics.
This strategy update proposes a vision for the near future and a long-term vision, seeking to maintain Europe's leading role in particle physics and the innovative technologies that are being developed.
In view of the updated strategy, a session will be held on July 2 at 2:30 p.m. in Portugal, at the Nuclear Technology Campus (CTN/IST) in Sacavém, to discuss the impact of this new strategy on the country. The session will be attended by the Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and by CERN's Director General, Fabiola Gianotti.
