Future of Particle Physics: CERN Council defines European Strategy
At a meeting held on June 19, the CERN Council unanimously adopted the update to the European strategy for the future of particle physics in Europe. The strategy includes recommendations that highlight the scientific, technological, economic, and human capital potential of particle physics.
This update to the strategy proposes a vision for the near future and a long-term vision, seeking to maintain Europe's leading role in particle physics and the innovative technologies that are being developed.
Taking into account the update of the strategy, on July 2, at 2:30 p.m., a session will be held in Portugal, at the Nuclear Technology Campus (CTN/IST) in Sacavém, to discuss the impact of this new strategy on the country. The session will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and will feature a remote presentation by the Director-General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti.
