Future of Particle Physics: CERN Council defines European Strategy

The CERN Council, in a session held on 19 June, unanimously adopted the updated European strategy for the future of particle physics in Europe. The strategy includes recommendations that highlight the scientific, technological, economic and human capital potential of particle physics.

This updated strategy proposes a vision for the near future and a long-term vision, seeking to maintain Europe's leading role in particle physics and the innovative technologies that are being developed.

Taking into account the update of the strategy, on July 2nd, at 2:30 pm, a session will take place in Portugal, at the Nuclear Technology Campus (CTN/IST), in Sacavém, which aims to address the impact of this new strategy in the country. The session will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and will feature a remote intervention by the Director General of CERN, Fabiola Gianotti.
