Atlantic Interactions initiative promotes meeting on Terceira Island
From April 20 to 21, Terceira Island will host a high-level meeting to promote North-South/South-North dialogue, with a view to an integrated approach to issues related to space, oceans, climate, and date management, which will be attended by more than 30 international delegations and involve more than 200 participants.
In 2016, MCTES and FCT launched a series of international workshops, held in New York, Ponta Delgada, Lisbon, Paris, Brazil, and Brussels, among other locations, with a view to defining an R&D research agenda for the Atlantic and creating the AIR Center – Atlantic International Research Center.
The AIR Center aims to establish itself as an international cooperation platform dedicated to research in the areas of aerospace, oceans, climate change, and energy, based on networked research, supported by infrastructure and initiatives that attract foreign investment.
This meeting, which will take place on Terceira Island, will involve dialogue between governments, industry, and science. It will be attended by government representatives and companies from numerous countries, including: South Africa, Germany, Angola, Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, China, Colombia, South Korea, Spain, the United States of America, Finland, France, Greece, the Netherlands, India, Ireland, Italy, Nigeria, Norway, the United Kingdom, Romania, Senegal, Sweden, and Uruguay, among others. The European Commission, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the United Nations will also be represented at the event.
