Portuguese researchers named fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
Researchers Mário Silveirinha and Nuno Borges, from the Telecommunications Institute (IT), were named Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) for their contributions to the electrodynamics of metamaterials and the characterization and design of nonlinear radio frequency circuits, respectively.
The distinction recognizes extraordinary qualifications and experience in areas designated by the IEEE, which annually elects a maximum of 0.1% of its members as Fellows. The position is awarded only by invitation from the Board to members with exceptional individual contributions to the advancement of engineering, science, and technology that simultaneously contribute to adding value to society.
Dedicated to advancing technology and innovation for the benefit of humanity, IEEE is a professional association made up of a global community of more than 400,000 members in 160 countries. It publishes more than 170 scientific journals and organizes more than 1,300 conferences and meetings annually.
