Launch of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region (PRIMA) in Portugal
On February 7, at 9:30 a.m., the Pavilhão do Conhecimento in Lisbon will host the launch in Portugal of the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region (PRIMA). See the program here.
The PRIMA initiative is one of the latest developments in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. It was launched at the 2nd Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on May 4, 2017, in Valletta, Malta, through the Declaration on Strengthening Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation through Research and Innovation. It is a 10-year funding program (between 2018 and 2028) that brings together an indicative global sum of 440 million euros, divided between contributions from the participating countries and the European Union, through the H2020 Framework Program for Science and Innovation.
The participating countries are Algeria, Cyprus, Croatia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. In terms of its strategic research and innovation agenda, PRIMA focuses on the themes of food systems and water resources, with the following pillars: sustainable water management in arid and semi-arid areas of the Mediterranean; sustainable agricultural systems; and the food value chain in Mediterranean regional and local development.
This event aims to introduce this partnership to the Portuguese public, pre-announce its first Calls for collaborative research projects and present ongoing experiences of transnational collaboration at Euro-Mediterranean level. Admission is free. Register here.
The session is supported by the coordination and support action 4PRIMA, a project funded by the European Union's H2020 Framework Program for Research and Innovation, under contract no. 724060.
