L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2020
FCT, L'Oréal Portugal, and the Portuguese National Commission for UNESCO have opened the application period for the 2020 L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science, which will remain open until September 18, 2020.
In this year's edition, the featured theme is research in the area of Climate Change, and one of the four medals to be awarded will be given priority to a research proposal in the field of the Impact of Climate Change on Health or the Environment, considered relevant by the Call Jury.
The Call open to all female PhD graduates who obtained their doctorate less than 5 years prior to the opening date of Call who will not be older than 35 by the end of the current year.
The individual prize to be awarded is worth €15,000, and the evaluation will be carried out by a jury set up for this purpose, made up of scientists of recognized merit in the areas covered by Call.
This initiative stems from a partnership between L'Oréal and UNESCO, established in 1998. The L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science were first awarded in 2004, in an initiative that brings together L'Oréal Portugal, the National Commission for UNESCO, and the FCT. In 16 years, 53 young female researchers have been awarded in Portugal.
