L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2020
FCT, L'Oréal Portugal and the UNESCO National Commission have opened the application period for the L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science 2020, which runs until September 18, 2020.
In this year's edition, the theme in focus is research in the area of Climate Change, and one of the four medals that will be awarded will be given priority to a research proposal in the area of the Impact of Climate Change on Health or the Environment, considered relevant by the Call Jury.
The Call is aimed at all female doctors who have obtained their doctoral degree less than 5 years before the date of the Call and who will not be over 35 by the end of the current year.
The individual prize to be awarded is worth 15,000 euros, and the evaluation will be carried out by a Jury set up for the purpose, made up of scientists of recognized merit in the field of the Call areas.
This initiative stems from a partnership between L'Oréal and UNESCO, established in 1998. The L'Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science were awarded for the first time in 2004, in an initiative that brought together L'Oréal Portugal, the UNESCO National Commission and FCT. In 16 years, 53 young female researchers have been awarded in Portugal.
