Miguel Seabra elected president of Science Europe
Elected unanimously today by the General Assembly of Science Europe, Miguel Seabra will lead this organization for the next two years. The organization aims to be a platform for collaboration to stimulate and strengthen research in Europe, acting mainly at the level of scientific policy-making.
Upon his appointment, Miguel Seabra said he felt "honored." "Establishing Science Europe as the central body for defining scientific policies in Europe" is his vision for the organization, which he believes "has come a long way since its creation in 2011, establishing itself as the voice of European science funding agencies and research institutes."
Miguel Seabra succeeds Paul Boyle, who praised the appointment, saying, “Miguel Seabra has played a key role in the General Assembly of Science Europe and as a member of the Council. I have no doubt that under his leadership, the organization will strengthen its position. I wish him every success.”
