Miguel Seabra elected president of Science Europe

Unanimously elected today by Science Europe's General Assembly, Miguel Seabra will lead this organization for the next two years, which aims to be a collaborative platform to stimulate and strengthen research in Europe, acting mainly at the level of defining scientific policies.

In view of the appointment, Miguel Seabra said he felt "honored". "Establishing Science Europe as the central body in defining scientific policies in Europe" is his vision for the organization that he considers "has come a long way since its creation in 2011, by asserting itself as the voice of science funding agencies and European research institutes".

Miguel Seabra succeeds Paul Boyle, who praised the appointment saying, "Miguel Seabra has played a pivotal role in Science Europe 's General Assembly and as a member of the Board. I have no doubt that under his leadership the organization will strengthen its position. I wish him every success."
