New Space Atlantic Summit 2019 in the Azores

(Versão em Português Disponível em Breve)

On June 21 and 22, the island of Santa Maria, in the Azores, will host the second edition of the New Space Atlantic Summit. The "Portugal Space Strategy 2030" and the newly founded Portuguese Space Agency - Portugal Space will be the starting point for discussing topics such as emerging processes and products to boost the exploration of data and signals in the space sector through the use of space-based or space-enabled applications and services. The event will contribute to the discussion of new services such as autonomous navigation and environmental sustainability, as well as the development, construction, and operation of space infrastructure (namely a spaceport).

The New Space Atlantic Summit 2019 follows on from the main conclusions of the first edition, which took place in Lisbon in May 2018 and brought together new players and established participants in the New Space sector. It is organized by Portugal Space in collaboration with FCT, the Atlantic International Research Center – AIR Center, and the European Space Agency. The event program includes topics such as sustainable development, maritime applications and other applications that impact our daily lives, space education, discussion of specific legislation, and several networking opportunities that will allow participants to exchange ideas and experiences.
