European Researchers' Night 2021
Today, September 24, the cities of Lisbon, Braga, Coimbra and Évora are hosting another European Researchers' Night, this year dedicated to environmental sustainability. The aim of this initiative is, once again, to bring the public into interaction with the researchers involved in organizing the event, thus dispelling the idea of the "distant and inaccessible scientist" and bringing science closer to citizens.
This year's evening is dedicated to environmental sustainability and the program is in line with the European Green Deal, which proposes that the climate impact be neutral by 2050 by promoting initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and boosting the green economy. The detailed program by city is available on the initiative's website.
This meeting between science and citizens has been promoted by the European Commission since 2005 and this year it will once again offer a very diverse range of activities for everyone to take part in, such as scientific experiments and demonstrations, workshops, conferences, hands-on workshops, games and quizzes, exhibitions, informal talks, debates and street entertainment.
