Transitional rule for scientific employment

Under the Scientific Employment Stimulus Program and following the conclusion of the regulatory process for amendments to Decree-Law No. 57/2016 introduced by Law No. 57/2017, institutions have the necessary elements to open Calls the hiring of PhD researchers under the new legal regime, in particular those relating to the transitional rule. In this context, the FCT will finance the hiring costs arising from competitive procedures for the functions performed by PhD scholarship holders with Studentships force on September 1, 2016, financed directly or indirectly by the FCT for more than three consecutive or interpolated years (until December 31, 2017, or August 31, 2018).

This funding will be provided through program contracts with host institutions to cover the costs of such employment contracts. The FCT therefore publishes guidelines for the conclusion of program contracts.

Each scholarship holder covered by the transitional rule will give rise to a position, to be opened by the host institution. The FCT will finance the contract of the selected researcher, provided that the scholarship holder who gave rise to Call applied. The FCT will finance a single contract per eligible scholarship holder.

Calls be opened by the institutions hosting the fellows and do not require authorization or validation by the FCT.
