New EU Strategy on adaptation to climate change

The European Commission has opened a public consultation until June 30, 2020, with the aim of gathering different contributions and suggestions on the European Union's (EU) new strategy for adapting to climate change.

The EU's current climate change adaptation strategy has been positively evaluated and shows that the strategy has achieved its objectives, with progress made on each of its eight individual actions. However, several areas for improvement have been identified based on the experience and knowledge gained from its implementation.

The new adaptation strategy is one of the initiatives included in the Commission's Work Program for 2020 and will be designed to support the achievement of the objectives of EU climate legislation.
