New Rules for Awarding and Managing Studentships

Today, June 2, FCT published the new Rules for the Award and Management of Studentships in the context of R&D Projects, Infrastructure Projects, the Multi-Year Funding Program for R&D Units, and other FCT funding instruments – Version 2021.

The following changes are noteworthy and should be taken into account with the entry into force of the aforementioned Standards:

1. The publication of notices announcing the opening of Calls be mandatory on the EURAXESS Portugal platform. The ERACareers web will enter a transitional period so as not to compromise processes already underway and will be deactivated very soon.

2. The FCT will no longer carry out prior validation of Calls for applications, so entities are not required to notify the FCT that the announcements have been published on EURAXESS Portugal. The preparation/validation of Calls applications Calls Studentships sole Studentships of the contracting entity and must comply with the EBI, the RBI, and these Rules. The verification of the processes leading to the award of Studentships, including the terms and conditions of the respective opening notices, will be carried out by the FCT in the context of monitoring the implementation and compliance with the applicable regulations.

3. Only the supporting documents for the Studentship processes Studentship in point 11.1. of the Rules should be sent to the FCT. The dossier for the respective funding at the contracting entity must include all elements of Call, contractualization, and execution of Studentship.

4. In addition to administrative checks on expenses submitted in payment requests, the selection/contracting processes for Studentships be subject to specific audits by the FCT to verify the respective documentation, and failure to comply with the applicable regulations may result in the ineligibility of the associated expenses.

5. Entities must adopt the new Studentship contract template Studentship .

These Rules shall enter into force on June 7, 2021.
